If Christian meditation can help us to see life beyond the material world and help us to reflect upon the events of our salvation, then the purity and simplicity of abstract art can aid our meditation in a way that more figurative art cannot. By using the beauty of abstract art as a gateway, we are able to enter that cosmic space which, according to Wassily Kandinsky, 'speaks of the hidden by means of the hidden'.
